Vertical agriculture is the practice of producing foods and medicines in vertically tiled layers, vertically inclined surfaces and / or integrated in other structures (such as a skyscraper, used warehouse or transport container). Modern ideas of vertical agriculture use domestic production techniques and controlled agricultural technology (CEA) where all environmental factors can be controlled.
These objects use artificial light control, environmental control (humidity, temperature, gasses…) and fertility. Some vertical farms use greenhouse-like techniques, where natural sunlight can grow with artificial lighting and metal reflectors. The term “vertical agriculture” was created by Gilbert Ellis Bailey in 1915 in his book “Vertical Farming”
During the usual development of agri-culture the land can be exploited soley for this purpose. Social activities are not possible during this time. Vertical farms use only 1/8-1/10 of the land for the development of agro-industry compared to the usual land-use mode. The development of agroindus-try through vertical farms offers rational use of land. The shape of the object is inspired by the shape of the ground with isohypses.
Since the concept of vertical farm is to turn the land-use into vertical direction we thought to turn every function of the site in a vertical way. Residential areas near the river, river and social activities all tried to be part of the facility as well as the part of the ground isohips. In a way, it involves physical and emotional experiences of the surrounding environment The river along with its fauna is introduced into the object in the form of an aquarium. It has visual access by visitors .The ground floor and the ground floor are contained in a shopping center. In order for people to have access to the water there is a swimming pool on the ground floor While the upper floors cultivate plants the water that belongs to the aquaponic system connected to the aquarium that is supplied with water River at the location. The overhanging floors and the restaurant on the first floor are being hand-painted by the south-east, providing clear views of the river.
